In all my time working in a guitar shop, Alvarez makes some of the best sounding cheap guitars and to my ear better than all the rest. Also even though Yamaha cheapies sound just as good, but their playability wasn’t as smooth as Alvarez IMO. These are very subjective things but I did get to play 100’s of cheap guitars and found both brands to be the preferable cheap acoustic. The electronics are pretty decent too with 3 band EQ and a good tuner.
